Faversham Life celebrates six months by taking to the airwaves.

It is six months since Faversham Life was launched and by sheer coincidence the Kent Creative Live Show asked us to launch ourselves on to the airwaves in its first 2017 broadcast. The arts discussion programme was aired on 7 March and you can listen to it if you click on this link.

The show features Amicia de Moubray and Posy Gentles, representing Faversham Life, in discussion with Nathalie Banaigs, creator of the show, and Susy Paisley, of Newton Paisley fabrics.

Susy is a conservation biologist and fabric designer whose gorgeous fabrics use real endangered species for their subject matter. Her fabrics look set to be hugely successful and we look forward to featuring her in a future issue of Faversham Life.

The show also features an interview with our brilliant web designer, Neil Brown of Beamtwenty3, whose creative voice contributes so much to Faversham Life.

In the show, Amicia and Posy explain why they believe Faversham deserves its own magazine and how the inspiration for Faversham Life came about. They describe some of the fascinating people they have interviewed and stray into, and quickly out of, a little affectionate rivalry with Whitstable.

The Kent Creative Show is the inspired idea of Nathalie Bainaigs, a unique and important figure in Faversham and a key mover and shaker in Kent arts.

Nathalie spent the first 20 years of her career working freelance in TV in Paris looking for film archives for documentary makers.  Roll on 16 years and she found herself by various twists of fate living in Faversham.  ‘Such a friendly town,’ she says.

Realising the enormous potential for a visual record of Faversham she launched 365 in 2007 – a book with a photograph taken in and around the town for every day of the year.  This was immensely popular and proved to be a turning point in her career. Nathalie says: ‘I attended a networking event where a life coach asked the assembled crowd to think of the “Golden moment in your professional life”, instructing us to go away and try and recreate it.

‘At the time I was dithering about where to live, in London, Faversham or to go back to Paris?

‘My high point was the private view of the 365 project so I decided to stay in Faversham.’ Nathalie became an award winner in Women in the Arts.

She started the internet radio station in 2016 promoting it by word of mouth and on social media, Twitter being the best driver of traffic to the show.  All the shows are available as podcasts.

Nathalie says: ‘I love interviewing people.  Also I like introducing people to each other and as a result the show has been a catalyst to make other things happen.’

At the moment Nathalie records the show in Faversham but, as it becomes better known, she wants to attract sponsorship so that it can be recorded live on location all over Kent.
